Best sunset spots in Dubrovnik
The city faces roughly south-southwest, which means great sunsets from almost anywhere along the walls — but 5 spots do it better than the rest.

Buža bar on the sea wall
The obvious first choice: a bar built into the fortifications with rock ledges dropping straight to the sea. Sun sets behind Lokrum island, sky goes pink, and you have a $6 beer in hand. Arrive at least 30 minutes before sunset to claim a ledge — from May to September there is no seat left after that. Two Bužas exist, both good; Buža II (larger) is slightly easier for groups.
The cable car top and Srđ ridge
1,350 feet up Mount Srđ, the sunset view stretches across the whole coast to the Elaphiti islands. The cable car runs until 10pm in summer — ride up 45 minutes before sunset, have a drink at the Panorama restaurant terrace, ride back after dark. $30 return. If you hiked up, the ridge trail has 5 or 6 unofficial viewing spots with no fence and no crowd.
Fort Lovrijenac and Šulić cove
The dramatic fort perched on its own limestone rock west of the Pile gate. From the road leading up to it, or from the rocks below at Šulić cove, you get the walls and city in silhouette against a sunset sky. Best for photographers — the classic postcard shot. Free to visit the exterior, and Šulić is a real swimming spot so you can be in the sea when the light goes.
Banje beach and the Excelsior terrace
Banje beach faces the Old Town from the east — you don’t see the sunset directly, but you watch the walls turn peach and gold in reflected light, which is arguably better. The Excelsior hotel terrace above the beach is the classiest sunset drink in the city — cocktails $15, dress properly. For a free version, the little breakwater at the east end of Banje is empty most evenings.
Lapad's Sunset Beach
The clue is in the name. Sunset Beach (Uvala Lapad) at the end of the Lapad promenade faces west and gets a full unobstructed horizon over the sea. Cafés line the pebbles — Cave Bar More is built into an actual cave. Best if you’re already staying in Lapad; a $6 bus 6 ride from Old Town works but you’ll want dinner nearby afterwards to make it worth the trip.
