What to expect at Fort Lovrijenac
Rising sheer from the sea just west of Pile Gate, Fort Lovrijenac was built in the 11th century to keep the Venetians out — and legend says it went up in three months once the Ragusans got wind of Venetian plans to build there first. Its motto, carved above the gate, reads 'Non bene pro toto libertas venditur auro' — freedom is not sold for all the gold in the world. Inside is a stark triangular courtyard with cannon platforms and Game of Thrones filming sites (this was the Red Keep).
The fort is tiny — 45 minutes is plenty — but the walk-up and the views back at the Old Town walls are the point. Combine it with your City Walls ticket, which includes Lovrijenac at no extra charge, and do it on the same day since the ticket is technically for a 24-hour window. Go late afternoon when the west-facing walls glow gold and the Old Town silhouette sits perfectly framed across Kolorina bay.

You can buy a standalone ticket for around $15, but the $40 City Walls ticket already includes Lovrijenac — no reason to pay twice.
No free entry, though children under 7 are free with an accompanying adult.
30-45 minutes is enough for the fort itself, plus 10 minutes each way from Pile Gate.
